Club: Allegiance Jiu-Jitsu Academy Ilkeston – Derbyshire, England Midlands
Belt: Purple
I have been involved in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 7 years and, with the guidance of our head female instructor, we have added an additional woman’s only class on a Friday that I teach. I also coach a junior class and assist with extra classes for children aged 4 to 15, including those with additional needs. My passion is rooted in ensuring everyone — regardless of gender, age, background, or ability — has the opportunity to thrive in BJJ.
My professional background as an Architectural Technologist has strengthened my skills in leadership, planning, and safeguarding, and I hold an enhanced DBS and First Aid training. I am also pursuing further study in Psychology to expand my understanding of childhood development and trauma- informed coaching practices.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been a transformative force in my own life, and I am dedicated to helping others access the same benefits — particularly women and girls who may otherwise feel excluded or underrepresented in combat sports.
Vision Statement
My vision is to support the growth of a more inclusive and supportive UK BJJ community by:
- Expanding opportunities for women and girls through female-only programmes, accessible coaching, and a stronger network of women leaders in the sport.
- Building clear development pathways for juniors, particularly girls, so they can transition from beginner to advanced levels with confidence.
- Promoting safeguarding and equality across all clubs by sharing best practices in coaching, child protection, and inclusive instruction.
- Encouraging collaboration and mentorship between clubs, coaches, and athletes to build a unified, supportive community.
- Raising awareness and visibility of women’s BJJ in the UK through events, workshops, and partnerships.
I believe the UKBJJA has an incredible opportunity to lead the way in making BJJ more accessible and welcoming for all. I would be honoured to contribute to that mission through meaningful action, representation, and community-driven change.
