Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been a central part of my life for many years, and throughout that time I have developed not only a deep love for the sport but also a clear vision for how it can continue to grow and flourish in Wales. The opportunity to serve as the Regional Wales Development Officer for the UKBJJA is one that I would embrace with passion, dedication, and professionalism.
I believe my background, skills, and commitment make me a strong candidate to help develop BJJ across the country, ensuring its accessibility, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability.
My journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has given me a thorough understanding of the sport, from its technical demands to the values it instils. Having trained and competed for many years, I know first hand the challenges and rewards experienced by athletes at every level. Whether supporting someone on their very first day in a club, or coaching competitors at the worlds biggest events. This personal experience ensures that I can connect meaningfully with practitioners, coaches, and clubs across the region.
Over the years, I have also taken on leadership roles within the martial arts community. I have been involved in organising events, supporting local clubs, and mentoring athletes, all of which have strengthened my ability to coordinate, plan, and deliver. These opportunities have taught me the importance of listening carefully to others, building strong relationships, and following through on commitments. As Regional Development Officer, I would draw on these skills to ensure that the UKBJJA’s vision is implemented effectively across Wales.
One of my strongest motivations in applying for this role is my commitment to community development. I firmly believe that the growth of BJJ in Wales depends on more than just producing top competitors. It is about creating opportunities for everyone—children, young people, women, and those from underrepresented backgrounds—to engage with the sport and feel its benefits. I am passionate about inclusivity and about widening access. In this role, I would work to develop grassroots programmes, establish partnerships with schools and community groups, and support clubs in reaching new audiences. By doing so, we can ensure that BJJ in Wales continues to thrive and has a positive impact on communities.
I also recognise the importance of communication and representation in this position. As Regional Development Officer, I would act as a link between the UKBJJA and the clubs, athletes, and coaches of Wales. I take pride in being approachable, professional, and clear in how I communicate. People know that I listen, that I take their views seriously, and that I work hard to represent them with integrity. These qualities would allow me to ensure that the voices of the Welsh BJJ community are heard while also helping to deliver the goals and standards of the UKBJJA across the region.
In summary, I believe I have the experience, skills, and passion to serve effectively as Regional Wale Development Officer. My dedication to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, my track record of leadership and community engagement, and my commitment to inclusivity all equip me to make a positive impact. I would be proud to represent the UKBJJA and to play my part in ensuring the continued growth and success of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Wales.

- Director and Founder of Tatami Fightwear and Polaris Professional Jiu Jitsu
- Involved in UK Jiu Jitsu for over 20 years.
