A message from the Chairman regarding return to training

I’m writing to you to give you an update on the situation regarding the return to full training for our sport.

On 30 July, I was honoured to represent the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community at a meeting of the Combat Sports Panel, which comprised the UKBJJA, the other main Martial Arts Governing Bodies plus DCMS and Sport England.

Although we did not establish a case for an immediate return to sparring we did make progress towards a pathway back to some form of normality for the Combat Sports. Given what I heard at the meeting I think that a return to sparring in early September may be possible as a best case scenario with things as they stand.

We will continue to push for a return to normal training for our sport as soon as possible and will keep you all updated as we make progress.

Enjoy your socially distanced training and let’s continue to work on moving our great sport forwards together as we approach this new beginning.

Wishing you all happiness and good health.
