RETURNING TO THE MATS – Stage 4 easing of restrictions in England

Today we attended a very positive meeting with the Sport England Return to Play team. Following the meeting (and subject to confirmation by DCMS later this week), we are very pleased to announce that all current restrictions on BJJ (and sports in general) will be lifted on 19 July.

This means that there will be no legal restrictions on training with contact and no restrictions on participant numbers, for either adults or juniors. Competitions may also resume.

This is excellent news for the jiu jitsu community who have had to endure harsher restrictions than most other sports.

As the Prime Minister noted in his statement on 12 July, the pandemic is not yet over – but it has always been our belief that, given appropriate measures, BJJ can be practised safely and the positive benefits to physical and mental wellbeing cannot be overstated. We will be publishing our guidelines for a safe return to training and competition in due course.

We would like to thank all of our members for their patience and forbearance over the last 16 difficult months and would like to wish you all a safe and happy return to training.
