Disclosure Scotland

Access NI

Everybody who instructs, coaches, referees or volunteers in jiu jitsu needs an Enhanced Discosure and Barring Service check (DBS check) to ensure there is no legal reason preventing them from working with children or vulnerable adults.

Please note, DBS checks apply to England and Wales – a similar service is offered in Scotland and Northern Ireland through Disclosure Scotland and Access NI respectively.

In some cases, you may have a valid, recent Enhanced DBS already through your employer. If not, we can arrange one for you.

How does it work?

Complete the form below and we will set up an online application form for you with our supplier, gbg.onlinedisclosures.co.uk

They will email you a link to their online application process. Verification of ID documents is done at your local post office.

What does it cost?

Enhanced DBS checks cost £66 for anybody who is paid for their BJJ work (e.g. instructors, referees, admin staff). For pure volunteers, the cost is £20.

Fees are payable at the end of the process directly to the supplier.

How often do I need to renew the certificate?

DBS certificates have no expiry date – however we would expect the check to be no older than three years. To save having to pay the full amount again, you can register with the DBS Update Service.
