The United Kingdom Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association (UKBJJA) is delighted to invite women from across the UK BJJ community to come together in celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.

We are hosting two inspiring Birmingham-based events on 7th and 8th March 2026, designed to empower, connect, and support women in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, whether you are brand new to the sport or an experienced competitor.

International Women’s Day Self-Defence Workshop

Saturday, 7th March 2026

University of Birmingham Dojo, University of Birmingham Sport & Fitness Centre, B15 2TT

Celebrate International Women’s Day by learning practical self-defence skills in a welcoming and supportive environment. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces essential self-defence concepts alongside fundamental BJJ movements, making it ideal for newcomers and those curious about starting their BJJ journey. This fun, interactive session will be led by Amelia Liu, IBJJF World Champion and Black Belt.

International Women’s Day Training & Open Mat

Sunday, 8th March 2026

Royal Jiu Jitsu, Birmingham B17 0NT

This women-only training session and open mat is an opportunity to bring together as many women as possible from across the UK BJJ community. Train, connect, and celebrate the strength of women in our sport in an inclusive and empowering atmosphere. The session will be coached by Libby Genge, IBJJF European and Pan American Gold Medallist.
