The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association is continuing its commitment to youth development with a series of three additional junior NoGi events in Birmingham, offering young athletes structured opportunities to learn, train, and prepare for the upcoming competition season.

UKBJJA Junior Summit | World Champion Series: Ffion Davies

The programme begins with a national UKBJJA Junior Summit, taking place on Saturday 11 July from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Royal Jiu Jitsu in Harborne, Birmingham. This inaugural summit headed by 2x Black Belt World Champion Ffion Davies will feature tuition from a two-time World Champion and is open to athletes aged 8–18, with a minimum grade of grey and white belt. Priced at £25 for members, this Gi event provides a unique opportunity to access world-class coaching while connecting with the wider junior Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community.

UKBJJA Junior National NoGi Skill Day | World Champion Series: Shay Montague

Following this, the UKBJJA Junior National Skill Day will take place on Saturday 22 August from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, also at Royal Jiu Jitsu, Harborne. Led by IBJJF Black Belt World Champion Shay Montague, this NoGi workshop will again give participants the chance to learn high-level techniques from world class athletes, supporting their technical development ahead of major competitions. The session is open to the same age and grade categories and is priced at £25 for members.

UKBJJA Junior National NoGi Training Day

The series concludes with the UKBJJA Junior National Training Day on Saturday 19 September from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at the same venue. Focused on NoGi sparring, this event offers dedicated training time with peers of similar age and ability, helping athletes sharpen their skills in preparation for the competitive season. Participation is open to athletes aged 8–18 (grey and white belt minimum) and is priced at £10 for members.

Each event is expected to welcome approximately 50–60 participants and will be delivered in a safe, structured environment overseen by qualified coaches and safeguarding personnel.

Together, these events form a progressive pathway for junior athletes—beginning with elite instruction, moving into technical development, and culminating in live sparring preparation—supporting their growth within the sport and fostering a strong national community.

National Juvenile Training Day

Meanwhile, registration  remains open for the recently announced National Juvenile Training Day for 14-to 18-year-olds  on Saturday 9 May from 12:00- 2:00pm, also at Royal Jiu Jitsu in Birmingham. The free training session will be predominantly sparring based with focus on different scenarios and specific training. The purpose of the Training Day is to bring together all the juvenile athletes in the country to meet other athletes of a similar age, connect with them and participate in training together.

Organised by UKBJJA Junior Development Officer, Bradley Hill, the training days are planned as regional training opportunities for youths with the vision of developing  a national Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team in 2027.
