His Majesty The King visited REORG to learn more about the charity’s work supporting serving military personnel, veterans, and emergency services personnel through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The UKBJJA’s Armed Forces Councillor Shamus Kelly was in attendance.

During the visit, The King met with REORG founder Sam Sheriff MBE, who shared the charity’s mission and the impact it has had on thousands of members of the Armed Forces and emergency services community. His Majesty also spent time speaking with REORG beneficiaries, hearing first-hand how Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has helped them overcome physical, mental, and social challenges while building confidence, resilience, and a renewed sense of community.

The King observed demonstrations on the mats and engaged with students and instructors, gaining a deeper understanding of how the sport is used as a vehicle for recovery, rehabilitation, and connection.

To conclude the visit, His Majesty presented REORG Chairman Trent Scanlan with his black belt on behalf of founder Sam Sheriff. The presentation took place in the presence of Master Mauricio Gomez, Professor Roger Gracie, and Professor Braulio Estima, marking a significant moment for both REORG and the wider Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community.

The visit concluded with Professor Roger Gracie presenting His Majesty with a ceremonial white belt, commemorating the occasion and recognising his interest in the charity’s work and the positive impact Brazilian Jiu Jitsu continues to have on those who have served their communities.
