UKBJJA Appoints Two New Independent Directors

UKBJJA, the official National Governing Body for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the UK has appointed two new Independent Directors to its Board.

David Hart is a performance lead in elite sport, currently employed by the English Institute of Sport as Head of Performance Support for British Gymnastics.  He has held similar positions with British Judo (having travelled with the team to the Tokyo Olympic Games) and in professional football.  David has a background in healthcare in sport (as a Chartered Physiotherapist) with a passion for performance but recognises that sport should be a force for good; believing that true success is achieved when good care of people underpins medals to inspire communities.

Daniel Strauss is a high profile grappler and coach with an extensive background. He has competed successfully at numerous high level professional grappling events, including Polaris, Quintet, EBI and ADCC. He is also well known as an event commentator and podaster (the Raspberry Ape podcast). He will be bringing his extensive media skills to bear to raise the profile, bringing it to a wider audience.

They join recently re-appointed independent legal director Lawrence Selby and directors elected at the AGM in October 2021 on the 12-strong Board of Directors.
