The United Kingdom Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association (UKBJJA), the national governing body of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the UK, is thrilled to unveil a groundbreaking initiative aimed at elevating the standards of BJJ across the country. Introducing the highly anticipated UKBJJA Level 1 Award in Assistant Coaching, a certified training course that aims to bolster the coaching skills within academies across the UK.

The UKBJJA have worked with Sports Structures, a national training structure provider for NGB’s, to create a nationally recognised sports coaching qualification.

About the course

The UKBJJA has created a course specifically designed to enhance the skills and competencies of Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners and those with ambitions to coach in BJJ in the future. The Level 1 Award in Assistant Coaching focuses on equipping participants with the knowledge and expertise required to support the delivery of sports or physical activity coaching sessions under the direct supervision of highly qualified coaches.

Eager learners can expect comprehensive coaching topics that cover essential aspects of assistant coaching. These include understanding the roles and responsibilities of coaching assistants, adhering to rules and regulations, implementing safe coaching practices, promoting inclusivity, delivering and evaluating coaching activities, and mastering the technical requirements of sport and physical activity.

As the first step on the coaching pathway for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, this course has received full approval from the UK Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association (UKBJJA). Designed to cater to individuals aspiring to engage in coaching at an assistant level, the qualification empowers learners with the responsibility to deliver coaching activities under the direct supervision of highly experienced coaches.

The UKBJJA Level 1 Award in Assistant Coaching is exclusively available to UKBJJA members and you must be a blue belt or above. if you are not yet a member, joining the UKBJJA is a simple process, with individual membership costing only £15 per year. Membership grants access to a diverse range of training, events, and comprehensive insurance coverage.
